Because it is summer and also because it’s been an unusually intense summer, I thought I’d lighten it up this week with my all-time Favorite Fruit Salad.  It’s quick and easy, and the perfect addition to a summer barbecue or picnic.  Enjoy!

1 Cantaloupe cut into chunks

1 Honeydew melon, cut into chunks

1-2 cups Blueberries

2 (or more) cups Pineapple chunks

1 Pint Strawberries, halved 

1 cup green seedless Grapes

2 Red Delicious apples, cored and sliced

2 Bananas, sliced

½ cup seedless Raisins

1 cup slivered almonds or pecan pieces

You can assemble the ingredients in a bowl, either by layering or tossing together.  Be sure to drain any juice from fruits beforehand. You can assemble the first five ingredients before serving time, but wait to add the apple slices, bananas, raisins, and nuts right before you serve so that they stay fresh.  Of course, you can adapt it in any way you like, eliminating or adding fruits to your preference, and also depending on how many you are feeding!
