Welcome to Evergreen Life and Wellness Coaching.

Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am really happy you are here! As I write this, my husband is in the next room watching a football game, my son is at a friend’s house, and I am heading into the evening of another full day. It started with a 5-k run at my son’s high school – he ran, I didn’t – and visiting with friends at the finish line. Later, I got to take a long hike with a dear friend in the woods not far from where I live, still filled with lingering fall colors. I spent the afternoon writing and getting a few household things done before settling in for dinner and the evening. It’s been a good day and I feel a sense of contentment.

What does this all have to do with health and wellness? The short answer for me is – Everything! It would be impossible to enjoy this day – any day, really – without having a sense of wellness, health – well-being. Feeling physically fit, putting good fuel into my body, getting enough rest, enjoying nature, and spending time with my family and friends – without these elements, it is difficult to enjoy the day’s offerings because we aren’t feeling quite right. I know I seem to do everything better when I’ve had a good night’s sleep, have been eating well and getting enough exercise, and when things are going well at home and with my community of friends. I’m in a better mood, more productive, and just having a better time in general! No one is going to be 100% all day, every day. But I’ve learned through the years that what I do and how I live, have a big impact on how I feel and what my life looks like…and, actually, have a big impact on what I look like! A few days of not eating or sleeping well, not exercising, not taking time to meditate or have some quiet time, and I just begin to feel “off.” I’m not at my best.

I’ve spent many years – often of trial and error – figuring out what I need to feel my best more days than not. And I’ve learned what works for me and so I stay with that (most of the time…). I have also learned that what works well in my life might not work well in someone else’s, for a variety of reasons. We are all individuals and have different needs, values, goals and lives. A working mom with a husband and two school age children is going to have a very different lifestyle – and different priorities – than a single professional man or woman in their 50′s, or retired professionals looking to construct the next chapter of their life. Whatever the situation, I am passionate about working with you to help you develop your own, custom-designed program to achieve – and maintain – peak condition.

That’s why I’ve created this site.  Because the end result is not just about having good health and being in great shape, as fabulous as that is. It is about being able to go out and enjoy each day, really live it, to the fullest. It’s about being able to appreciate life and have fun with our family and friends, and new experiences. It’s about having a sense of well-being, and being able to fully engage with our community, our work, and the world around us.

The dictionary definition of well-being is: A good or satisfactory condition of existence; a state characterized by health, happiness, and prosperity. To me, it’s the foundation – the foundation of the rest of our lives. And I really don’t want to miss anything!
